Forgive me Vint Cerf, Father of The Internet, for I have sinned.
Tell me, my son.
I… I… I’m sorry, Father… I can’t. I thought I could, but I just can’t. My crime is so horrible, so heinous…
There, there, my child. This is The Internet. We do not judge here. Please, unburden yourself.
Well… in that case –
When I first got a camera, like many people, I took mostly still life photos and landscapes; images of flowers, sunsets, fruit arranged around a bowl, railroad tracks, that sort of thing, you know.
Go on.
Soon, I felt I needed to practice on moving objects, living things in order to improve my focus technique, and capture that ‘decisive moment’. I would sometimes photograph people, but I was shy, and they weren’t always readily available. So I began to photograph pets – dogs and cats mostly.
I see.
I really think this helped me learn in the beginning, yet even as time went on, even when I had access to models and people whenever I wanted, I continued to photograph cats periodically to test new camera gear. I found that their fine fur was great for showing the level of detail that could be captured and white and black fur for revealing highlight and shadow information.
Please… continue.
I… I… I then began posting some of those photos on The Internet. I’m sorry, Father – I know it was wrong! I don’t know why I did it, but I did. And the thing is, people commented on them. Sometimes lots and lots of comments. A whole lot!! I figured.. I don’t know… I guess I felt they must be share-worthy.They were being enjoyed. And… and so I posted more, and the more I posted the more people commented and… and I just couldn’t stop (sob).
Now, now my Son. We all do things we regret.
But, that’s the thing Father, I don’t regret it. And sometimes, I still do it! I just… just don’t know what the right thing to do is…
Hm. Heh. Ha.
Father? Please, Father – do you have any guidance for me?
Haha. Ha.
Father??
Oh, I’m very sorry, my Son. Our organist just sent me a meme. That Grumpy Cat is so hilarious!
